Classico “Make It Your Own” Recipe Challenge & a Giveaway For You!

In our home, we love to make pasta dishes and casseroles because there are so many choices of pastas, sauces, and ingredients to choose from! The choices are endless, really. Recently we made a delicious casserole using one of our favorite ingredients: CLASSICO Sauce.

classico_product_largeCLASSICO makes delicious flavors ranging from the smooth Traditional Spaghetti Sauce to Sun-Dried Tomato Alfredo Sauce and even Pizza Sauce. CLASSICO likes to say, ” We Make It Like You’d Make It!” I agree. They even have a Pinterest board full of yummy recipes that makes it so easy to decide what to make for dinner at night.

My husband and I decided that we would use the Vodka Sauce for our casserole. I love this sauce because it blends cream and cheese together making a creamy tomato sauce that requires little embellishment. Vodka Sauce has a hint of Vodka in it, however it isn’t a flavor that over powers the smoothness of the tomatoes and cream. It is a wonderful base sauce that doesn’t require a lot of additional seasoning.


We boiled 3 chicken breasts and chopped it up while the pasta was boiling. We added the chopped chicken to our Vodka Sauce and let it simmer. Once the pasta was cooked and strained, we added it to the delicious Vodka sauce mixture.


Shredding CheeseWe chose to add Gouda and Mozzarella shredded cheese to our casserole to make it even creamier. We shredded a generous helping of Gouda cheese and about ½ cup of shredded Mozzarella.

We then poured our Vodka sauce and chicken mixture into a 9 X 13 casserole dish and topped with our cheese variety. We placed it in the oven for about 10 minutes at 350 degrees to melt the cheeses and then we got to taste our delicious CLASSICO creation! Delicious!!

Another reason I loveCLASSICO 24 oz Red Sauces, is because I can repurpose the glass mason jars for fun projects! The labels can be removed easily, leaving you with a fun mason jar to use for anything you can imagine! To remove the label off of my jar, I soaked it in hot soapy water for about 15 minutes allowing it to come off easily. I scrubbed a little and it was ready for creating! I decided to make a fun lotion container using a lid made by reCAP, which has partnered with CLASSICO so that you can reuse your pasta sauce jars for unique and personalized projects around the house.

I have a little one at home and I use a squeeze bottle of lotion on him frequently.  I knew that I wanted to accomplish two things with my new jar:

1) hide the large pink lotion bottle that doesn’t go with anything else in his room

2) make a pump bottle that is easier to use than having to squeeze lotion out while my little guy is fighting to grab the bottle out of my hands!!

I placed a lotion bottle inside the mason jar and then used colorful legos around the bottle to make it more fun! The pump lid by reCAP worked perfectly!! Now I have a lotion bottle that is so much easier for me to use and it looks fun for him!

    Lasagna is a favorite in our house, so that would be the first thing we would make. We also make a lot of home made pizza, and the flavored Classico varieties make a great pizza sauce.

    I would use the Tomato & Basil sauce for grilled pizza – I was scared to put dough on the grill the first time, but it is easy! I grill onions, peppers, mushrooms, and then top the dough that has been flipped on the grill with cheese, sauce and toppings. Smoky and wonderful!
