Family Fun At Mountain Play Lodge

If you live in the Asheville area and have kids you probably are familiar with the family fun center, Mountain Play Lodge. If not, I’m here to tell you it’s worth a trip!
FullSizeRender (1)During the hot summers, it’s always nice to find a cool place to play indoors with the kids and Mountain Play Lodge is a great option! I was eager to go and check it out for myself along with my 6-year-old step son and 8 month old son. I was skeptical that there would be enough to do to make each of us happy, but I wasn’t disappointed! Upon entering the front doors, we were greeted by a statue of Gabby, the family pet of the Mountain Play Lodge owners. The real Gabby has been known to check in and join the fun occasionally throughout the week!
IMG_5835There are gift shop items where you can buy Mountain Play Lodge merchandise as well as toys and dress up items. Upon paying the $10 entry fee for my step son (adults and infants admitted free with sibling), each of us was stamped with a cute Gabby stamp. The stamp allows you to come and go as you wish throughout the day. Outside the play area, there are cubbies to stash your personal items including your shoes that aren’t allowed inside the play area.
IMG_5818Socks must be worn by all who enter the play area regardless of age. If you forget yours, Mountain Play Lodge will sell you a pair for $2 so you don’t miss any of the fun.
Once inside, there are several play areas for children 4 and older including a climbing wall, slides, and pretend play. A separate area is reserved for little ones 4 and younger with rubber flooring and smaller sculptures to climb on as well as smaller versions of the big kid play areas.
They haven’t forgotten the adults either. There are numerous seating areas, tables and chairs for work areas, TVs on the wall, Starbucks coffee on the menu and a spacious diaper changing area in the family rest room.
Snacks are available for purchase as well as coffee, juice and other beverages; as there is no food or drink allowed in from the outside.
Anyone is allowed to have free play Monday thru Sunday 10am-6pm. Party rooms can also be reserved with the choice of a Castle or Pirate Ship theme and menu options from Acropolis Pizza, a local Asheville pizzeria.
If you and your kids fall in love with Mountain Play Lodge, don’t forget to ask for a loyalty card that allows you to earn points towards a free admission. However, if you feel within the first ten minutes of your visit, that this is not the place for you, a refund will be provided.
Mountain Play Lodge offers play time and fun interaction for kids of all ages. If you have any questions or curiosities you can check out their website for further information. Maybe we will see you at the Lodge!
