Kim on Fox News Sharing Orlando Staycation Deals

Kim Button Fox NewsWe’re so excited to share the best destinations and attractions in Orlando and central Florida every day. It’s a real honor to be able to share them with FOX 35 News viewers, too!

Kim was on FOX 35 News Orlando Good Day this morning sharing central Florida staycation deals. The Orlando area was voted as the best place for a staycation by Wallet Hub this year. Makes sense since Orlando is also the most visited city in America, too.

First, a little behind-the-scenes information about appearing on FOX News. Then, the staycation deals Kim talked about.

When doing live TV, it’s always a very good thing to arrive early. Really early. So I got in around 7:45 for my 8:35 a.m. segment. You just never know what traffic is going to be like.

Walking into the studio, it’s a thrill to see the production area with so many monitors all broadcasting something different.

I chilled in the Green Room for a while. No, seriously, I chilled because TV studios are always so cold. Always.

When I was brought into the studio, a technician hooked up my mic pack (the lapel microphone) and I waited a few minutes while watching the segments being taped, from weather to news to the traffic report. It was a little odd to watch the traffic reports on the screen in the studio, talking about the bad traffic on I-4, when I had just passed the same mess on I-4 minutes ago.

I also watched the social media staffer endlessly click through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram on a huge screen inside the studio looking for responses, tweets and likes. Yes, they do actually pay attention to that in real time! So send in those social media tweets, likes and comments.

Then it was time to sit on the couch next to John Brown and talk about staycation deals. FYI, John, Luanne Sorrell and Molly Rosenblatt are super nice personalities and welcomed me to the studio.

Watch the clip on the MyFOXOrlando website here.

Many thanks to Our Florida Project and Experience Kissimmee for being so kind to take some photos at home while watching and send them to me! I appreciate it!!

There were so many deals and packages available to Florida residents, that it was incredibly difficult to narrow down the choices to just 3 hotels and 3 attractions. Here’s what we highlighted on the show this morning:

Hotels
The Shores Resort and Spa
Daytona Beach Shores
Want to just relax at the beach? Enjoy a Florida resident deal with 15% off rates, 20% off a spa service and a free s’mores kit for a nighttime bonfire. Rates from $119.
Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate
Kissimmee
This massive resort is a hidden secret among locals, boasting excellent golf, a lazy river, two pools, surrey bike rentals and a full activity schedule every day ranging from liquor tasting to crafts to s’mores every night. Rates from $119

LEGOLAND Hotel
Winter Haven
One of only two in the country, this brand new family-oriented hotel is an immersion into LEGOs, ideal for families with younger children. Choose a room with a theme, including pirates or adventure, be welcomed with a treasure hunt upon check-in, and have plenty of LEGOs in your room for play while you’re not at the pool or enjoying the play areas.  Rooms from $249
Attractions
Orlando Explorer Pass
Check out the latest new attractions in Orlando, including the Orlando Eye and Madame Tussauds, with this multi-day pass that saves up to 40% off of retail prices. One of the great deals found on ExperienceKissimmee.com, which has a Florida Resident’s deal page and last minute savings. From $55.99
Aquatica
Enjoy unlimited water park fun with an annual pass for $108, with no blackout dates and discounts on food and merchandise at SeaWorld’s water park.
Kennedy Space Center
We take for granted that we live just minutes away from one of the few places in the world that send people and satellites into space. More rockets will be launched in 2015 than in any other year over the past two decades. From thrill attractions to IMAX films to standing in the shadow of a space shuttle, there’s something for everyone. A recent deal is four tickets for $139. Annual passes for $89 are also a great value.
