Leaky Cauldron vs. Three Broomsticks

If you have only one opportunity to eat at a Harry Potter restaurant, you might be wondering which one to choose.

Since you cannot make reservations, it is easy to choose the restaurant based on what Harry Potter land you are in when you get hungry.

  • Prices are generally the same at each restaurant. One is not going to be less expensive than the other.
  • Leaky Cauldron serves more traditional British foods, which might not be great for picky eaters
  • Alcohol such as wine and whisky are available at Leaky Cauldron, but not at Three Broomsticks
  • Beer is available at both restaurants
  • Butterbeer and other Harry Potter drinks are available at both restaurants
  • Universal’s Refillable Cups do NOT work in Harry Potter land!
  • If you are looking for an impressive meal that’s fun to eat, the Great Feast at Three Broomsticks serves four people but has a high price tag of $72.99

Breakfast In Harry Potter World

You might want to get an early start in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and enjoy breakfast in the morning.

We suggest getting to Harry Potter land and seeing what the wait times are. If you can get on a ride without having to wait too long, do the ride first and get breakfast afterwards! You don’t want to waist time eating breakfast and then have to wait in line longer later in the day. Also, you don’t want to ride a roller coaster with a full belly!

Both Harry Potter restaurants at Universal serve breakfast until 10:30 a.m. Opening hours will depend on the day, but generally start around 9 a.m.

Each restaurant has a limited selection of breakfast entrees for $17.99 and kids meals for $12.99. You will not find a la carte menu items that cost less.

Helpful Tip: Personally, we feel it’s better to eat breakfast at your hotel (if it’s included) or bring some snacks to enjoy as breakfast while waiting in attraction lines or on the hotel shuttle bus. Then eat an early lunch in either of these restaurants. Lunch entrees are actually less expensive than the breakfast entrees, plus you can get a rest break in the middle of the day by taking a break for lunch or dinner. *This is just one of our old-fashioned ways to save money at theme parks.

Leaky Cauldron Restaurant

Breakfast is served at the Leaky Cauldron restaurant until 10:30 a.m.
